What is BUGS?

BUGS is a student-run, department-backed organization at Western whose main goal is to broaden undergraduate students’ academic and social experience at the University of Western Ontario with an interest in biology. For only $5.00, we offer students membership into one of Western’s largest and most important student-run organizations. If you’re a student taking courses offered by the biology department, or even courses offered in the medical sciences, we have much to offer you. From information sessions to tours of high-tech facilities on campus to MCAT help and opportunities to take leadership roles, BUGS is an organization that will help you get the most out of your time as an undergraduate student at Western.

  • To broaden the experience of Western University’s undergraduate biology students both socially and academically.
  • To connect Western’s undergraduate biology students with similar goals and interests.
  • To serve as a liaison between undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and officials of the Department of Biology
  • To foster an environment where students can learn about scholarship, career, scholastic, and volunteer opportunities.
